Self-marketing on the cheap

Personal ID card

I’m a photographer interested in people and therefore I’m very often in contact with people. Most often I met those people the fist and last time, e.g. people at film festivals or street photography. Sometime I have an event badge but there are never the infos included I like to exchange.

Intro

I run my own business with no marketing budget. I use business cards and this personal badge to promote my business. The business cards I use for formal contacts the badge at events and on the street. The reactions are very positiv!

They like the idea and also my very personal design.

Design

I have different badges for film festival photography, analog photography, street photography and location sound. The design is according the needs described above.

Here I show my film festival badge. The photos shown on the film festival homepage are black & white and therefore the design of the badge is also black & white.

Required Materials

  • High quality paper.
  • Credit card protection sleeve.
  • Key ring.
  • Strap, I used a shoe lace.

Required Tools

  • Ruler.
  • Knife or scissor.
  • Eyelet Plier.

How to Do It?

The most time I spent with the graphics design. The making is simple: print it, cut it, fold it, put it in the credit card sleeve and finally punch a hole with the eyelet plier and install the eyelet.

Just do it!

My Recommendations

It looks best if you use high quality paper. As a photographer I recommend ILFORD Galerie Smooth Perl.
